Olive had her surgery!
Olive had her surgery yesterday, and today went home to her adoring foster family, and her three resident "sisters" (she will not be able to play with them for awhile). The cardiologist, Dr. Allen, was pleased with the results so far. They were able to open the valve 50%. He said that she will likely need another procedure later... we hope not for awhile! Her pressure in her heart/valve was 180 before the procedure, and 80 after. Normal is 10-20. She will have her stitches removed in two weeks, and a follow up in 2.5 months. We will know more then about her prognosis. She was feeling so well last night, and was so hungry, that she was trying to eat her IV tubes....
50 people "Chipped in", and another 20 or so donated via other methods. THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU! We could not have done this (easily) without you. We met our goal for her expenses to date. There will be more costs, but we are so appreciative of all of the support.

Olive the puppy needs surgery!
Olive, formerly Goldie, the beautiful, golden puppy of Susannah, was discovered to have a severe heart defect. A murmur on the scale of 5 out of a possible 6 in severity. She has been examined by a vet cardiologist, and without intervention, she has months, to longest a year, to live. There is a possibility to extend her life with a surgical procedure similar to angioplasty, to enlarge the valve area where blood leaves the right chamber. The estimate is 2,500 on the lowest side, to $4,000 on the highest. Milo is burdened with massive veterinary bills right now, and desperately needs help to raise the money so that Olive can get this surgery asap. THANKS!
